Our Services

LIFE/RUN Center is a non-residential, Consumer controlled, non-profit agency dedicated to assisting people with disabilities to live as independently as possible and to achieve full inclusion into the Community in which they live. Our Center provides the following services:

  • Independent Living Skills Training - Offering individuals the basic skills in independence, (i.e., cooking, money management, transit training, etc.).
  • Peer Support - Providing peer support to individuals and families, to obtain a greater understanding of disability issues and solutions.
  • Advocacy - Assisting individuals and businesses in the community to understand their rights and obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Information and Referral Services - Providing information about community resources and networking with agencies that provide services to people with disabilities.
  • Benefits Planning - Assisting individuals with disabilities with understanding Social Security Work Incentives to encourage employment.
  • Traumatic Brain Injury Program - Providing Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Support, Vocational Training and Social and Recreational activities to people who have sustained traumatic brain injuries and strokes.
  • Social and Recreational - Providing safe, accessible activities to assist individuals in socializing, being creative and avoiding isolation.
  • Barrier Reduction - Assisting individuals and businesses in our community to be aware of access issues that prevent full inclusion of people with disabilities. Providing businesses with free accessibility checks to help make their business more accessible for people with disabilities.
  • Vocational - Job Readiness Training, such as interviewing skills, resume preparation and job seeking skills. Training in basic computer skills, such as keyboarding, typing, and word-processing.
  • Personal Assistance Services - Advocate, educate, and promote quality long-term community care for people with disabilities in their homes, in order to avoid institutionalization.
  • Housing - Assisting homeless and low-income families to obtain rental assistance and accessible housing through knowledge of community resources and networking with local housing providers.
  • Volunteerism - Offering our Consumers and the community, volunteer opportunities that will provide workplace training and peer support.
  • Transition Services - Providing supports, information, advocacy and recreational activities to youth with disabilities as they transition from school into a new level of independence.
  • Braille Services - Providing accurate Brailing of documents for businesses and agencies in the community.
  • VRS - Hosting a Video Relay Station to expedite communication for People with hearing disabilities.

"Home for Life” Relocation Services

We provide community awareness, relocation, and transition services to assist people who live in nursing facilities to transition back into the community with supports in place to assure a safe, successful transition. Services are available to people of all ages, with all types of disabilities.

Olmstead Vouchers

Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs has awarded LIFE/RUN housing subsidy vouchers to assist people with disabilities as they transition from nursing facilities back into the community. The vouchers are available for areas including the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, the Permian Basin and West Central Texas.

Sign Language Interpreting Services

We provide dependable, qualified interpreters to businesses and agencies in the community for communication with people who are deaf and hard of hearing. This fee-for-service helps to ensure that people who have a hearing disability will receive the services they need.

Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)

LIFE/RUN has limited assistance with gas and electric utility bills for people with disabilities who meet certain eligibility standards.
